Track practice...

...at the Poca High School track, in the shadow of the mighty, coal burning, electricity producing, John Amos Power Plant.  My daughter is running track this spring for Teays Valley Christian School.  She's the yellow blob in the lower left.  Hopefully she'll inspire me to get back into running shape so we can run together.  She has on my Lynchburg Ultra Series jacket that I got for finishing the Holiday Lake 50k trail run, the Promise Land 50k trail run and the Mountain Masochist 50 mile trail run.  Me and a friend of mine from work, Jerry Bostic, ran the series the year of it's inception (2001) and were the first two West Virginians to complete the series.

Firehouse Cookin'

Jalapenos stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in bacon with just a dab of BBQ sauce.  Mama!!!  Low carb, high protein and maximum deliciousness.  Click on the picture, I dare ya.  There were 24 of them and 3 of us.  They lasted about 15 minutes.

First Baptist

I was on my way to work this morning and saw that the sunrise was gonna be pretty colorful.  When I got to the fire station I went up on the roof to get the shot.  Three shot panorama.  Click for a better view.

RIT Training

RIT stands for, Rapid Intervention Team.  The only purpose of the RIT is firefighter rescue.  There are a number of reasons a firefighter may need rescued, such as being lost, trapped, injured or out of air.  The past three shifts we have been doing the Saint Albans Fire Department version of the Pittsburgh Drill.  We did it with less than the specified team members.  The specs call for a team of at least 4 and no more than 5.  A time between 18 and 20 minutes is considered good.  My three man team completed the rescue in 19:56 and the two man team made up of two brutes on my shift did it in about 15:30.  By the way, that hole is 14.5" x 20".

Bull Push

An old mine supply building at the mouth of Bull Push hollow near Smithers, WV.

Hill Family Cemetery

Went to Fayette county today for a memorial service for one of my wife's 1,001 cousins.  They buried his ashes in the family cemetery at Belva, WV.  The cemetery is on a narrow ridge top overlooking the Gauley river.  We've been to that hilltop a bunch of times since we've been married.  My wife's mom is buried here and I had the privilege of digging the grave for her.

Thermal Image Camera Training

Smoked up Station One today to do some TIC training.  Not to worry, the smoke is non-toxic.  I hope.

Erma Byrd Art Gallery

I going to go back here soon and get some more photos when I have time to look around.  This is a 3 shot HDR image

Frank

Went to the University of Charleston today and took some shots for a friend of mines CD cover.  We took some shots in the rotunda, the ballroom and the Erma Byrd Art Gallery.  Hopefully I got one or two good ones that he can choose from.
